Best Reoccurring Character
Richard Alpert (LOST): second nomination
Played by: Nestor Carbonell
~This is Richard's second nomination, but if he doesn't become a regular in LOST's final season, I would say that the smart money is that we haven't seen the last of him yet in these awards. Richard is one of the most enigmatic characters on LOST. Many assume he is of the Black Rock (which I am a believer in) but he is also works for Jacob in some way, and the one whom can answer the question "what lies beneath the shadow of the statue". Plus his eyes have natural eye shadow and whats cooler than that
Eric Northman (True Blood): first nomination
Played by: Alexander Skarsgard
~True Blood quickly appeared on the television this season in the time when Vampires were growing in popularity. Halfway through the season, we got to really see the Vampire culture, and that is when Eric appears, one of the superiors in Louisiana. Like everything in True Blood he is multi-layered, not good nor bad.
Princess Mary of Tudor (The Tudors): first nomination
Played by: Sarah Bolger
~First off, I am minorly in love with Princess Mary, so lets keep that in mind (she is probably my second biggest celebrity crush). She is one of the scene stealers in the Tudors, and one feels for her and her unwanted position in power. She is not allowed to love because she is the daughter of the king, but will also never rule. Here is hoping that in the fourth and final season, Mary finally gets to live the life she dreams of (but odds are she won't)
John Wakefield (Harper's Island): first nomination
Played by: Callum Kieth Rennie
~Callum Rennie is more known for his work on Battlestar Galactica this season, but he truly shined as the creepy and critical John Wakefield. I won't go into too much detail (due to the fact that all of you should one day watch this show) but his appearance and the way he plays it is amazing. Doesn't talk alot, but he is one of the main reasons Harper's really turns the corner later on in the season.
Brian "Smash" Williams (Friday Night Lights): second nomination (first as reoccuring).
Played by: Gaius Charles
~I am not even sure that this is fair. As soon as Smash was demoted to a four-episode character arc, you knew a nomination was in his future. Then after the character arc ran it's course, you realize that they were four of the best episodes of TV this season, and Smash was the main part of it. Hopefully this isn't the last we see of him, but if it is the FNL writers treated him right and he definitely deserves this nomination.
~First set of nominations down, four more to go. Some things of note: This is the first ever Don Awards were no two reoccurring actors came from the same show, as LOST has done so twice in the past, 24 once, OC once, and Prison Break once in the past. Also, there are two second nominated characters already in this years Don Awards, surpassing the record low number of 1 in all of Don Awards four, and we still have 10 more acting nominations to go. However, all five nominees of last year didn't make a reappearance, so in some other ways this is entirely a new batch, and one character this year (Eric Northman) has already been promoted to regular next season, and that possibility could also occur for Richard Alpert, so its possible we could have an entirely new batch next year, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Anyway, hope you enjoy tomorrows update as much as this one.
